Bug Invasion

My house has recently been invaded by insects; not even the cute kind either, like ladybugs or caterpillars, but ants and mosquitoes. I first noticed the ants in my house when I was eating breakfast and I saw a huge clump of ants out of the corner of my eye. I told my mom and she was a little angry.

“Mom, there are ants in the kitchen!”
“WHAT?! How dare they! *smushes* Oh mi tuo foh.”

My mom is a Buddhist, so every time she kills a bug, she says oh mi tuo foh (not exactly sure on the spelling). It’s actually quite hilarious because she went around to each part of our kitchen and started smushing the ants and said an oh mi tuo foh for each of the ants she killed.

I was contemplating on getting the ant spray and lighting it on fire. *insert psychotic laughter* Nothing like fried ant for breakfast, eh? I despise bugs. They usually don’t bother me very much, but I suppose since it was pretty hot today, all the insects came into my house to seek refuge. My mom wouldn’t agree to the flamethrower idea though; something about “burning the house down and killing us all.” Psh, like that would happen. In the end, my mom power washed the outside walls because the ants were feeding on an abandoned honey bee nest (where are they all going?) and they were crawling into our house through the window. She also used ant spray and sprayed the whole kitchen; now I can eat in peace!

I noticed the mosquitoes flying around when I turned on the light in my bedroom. Soon after I turned my light on, the mosquitoes congregated around it and started buzzing. As you could probably imagine, this was quite annoying because I was attempting to get some work done. I went to the bathroom to get a handful of tissues to squash them all with, but when I got close enough to them to smush them, they all flew away. They’re probably still somewhere in the house… lurking… waiting until I go to sleep so they can suck my blood and give me West Nile.

Sometimes I just wish winter would come so I could bid farewell to all these pests; on the other hand, when winter comes around, I’ll probably be soaked in water every day, and that’s not a plesant feeling either. Life is a hard game to win.

What has your experience with bugs been like?
