I have been punching myself in the face this past week because I couldn't find the song that was playing on the radio the other day! Well, today, I finally found it! I could really relate to the lyrics of the song; I love it when I find songs like this because they make me reflect on the things that have happened in my life to make me who I am today.
Over the summer, I had a friend whom I could tell everything to. We used to spend all day at the park, just talking about our lives and how we could do better; unfortunately, she moved away at the end of the summer. I had known this girl for almost all my life! When we were little, we did a blood ritual, where we pricked our fingers and pressed them together. Well, back then, I didn't know about the diseases that can be passed on from blood, but hey, I was only five at the time!
I lost contact with this friend over a few months, and eventually, she was packed away somewhere in a dusty compartment of my mind. It hurt me every time to remember her, so I tried to forget her. Then, over my winter break, I saw her at the park where we used to hang out. She became everything that we told each other that we would never become: wannabe-gangster, doing drugs, and having strange colors highlighted into our hair. I fast-walked out of that park as quickly as I could.
Becoming a teenager changes someone; some for the better, some for the worse. I'd like to think that I've changed for the better :wink: . Even now, some of my friends and I are growing farther and farther apart. It's like nature has driven a wooden wedge between us and we're both struggling to get over it. I'm tired of trying to fix a friendship that is probably beyond repair at the moment; perhaps in a few years after we've both matured. I feel like, I'm stuck in a river current, and everyone seems to be passing me by while I'm just a rock; never-moving, and slowly eroding. Adolescence is a period where you never know who's going to be your friend tomorrow, or next year.
Man, I can't wait for this to be over. :roll:
