Walls

"Sometimes you put up walls, not to keep people out, but to see who cares enough to break them down." I was just browsing blogs, and I came across that quote on Ellen's blog and I thought it was a quote that I could really relate to. When I was young, I experienced a traumatic experience and hid from the world inside myself. I didn't want to talk to anyone, and I got really irritable when people tried to talk to me. I'm still dealing with some of the repercussions of that event, but I'm slowly getting over it. Walls I think it's a natural instinct to put up so-called 'walls'. Some people do it more than others, but we all do it at some point in our lives. What we all need is someone who cares enough to force their way through your barriers and be there when you need them. It's pretty hard to come across one of these people -- they're a dying species! In a world so caught up in the superficialness of everything, it's like looking for a needle in a haystack. Have you ever had that one friend who has constantly bugged you when you're in a bad mood, but they eventually make you feel better somehow? That's how I look at the quote. A person who would be willing to face your wrath when you're in a wretched mood, just to make you feel better, is a pretty good friend -- one that you should definitely hold on to! So, what are some quotes that make you really 'think'?
