My piano teacher just called me, and told me that I
passed the Certificate of Merit theory test with a 95%! I was shocked too! The theory test was this morning, and I was freaking out about it after I finished taking it.

I got stuck on the part of the test where you have to analyze a piece of music and figure out all these details about it. That portion of the test probably took me about twenty-minutes. One of my friends from school came to take the test as well, and she finished in thirty-minutes; she sat next to me too, so I was freaking out because everyone was finishing before me. The theory test overall took me about an hour and thirty-minutes. You can see an example of the music analysis section of the test to the left of this paragraph.

I spent the rest of the day pacing around the house, and being nervous about the results of my test. My dad decided to take me to watch "10,000 BC" to try and calm my nerves, and it worked. I was distracted from my test results for two hours, and when I got back, I forgot all about the results of the test.
When my piano teacher called me with the results, she drew it out so much.
"Alex, well, we finished grading the tests and yours was one of those that was graded. I have to say... that... you did... *long pause* quite well! "
I never expected my teacher to have such a twisted sense of humor. My stomach was filled with butterflies (which is actually the stoppage of your digestive system, if you ever wondered) and I seriously felt like hanging up on her.
Remember my piano disaster? Well, my teacher told me the results for the playing test part of the piano test, and she told me that I got the highest score for all my pieces, excellent for sight reading, yet weak for technical (see
post). So, my overall score averaged out to be about a 4+ out of 5.
I'm so glad it's over. I can't wait until I have to take the test next year *sarcasm*!
