My mom and her crazy remedies

My mom being from China, I've always been exposed to many different kinds of medicines; some helpful, some not so helpful. I've been having a persistent cough over the last few weeks, and my mom decided to use vinegar to try and help my sinuses. I was just innocently browsing the internet ( ) and my glasses started to fog up. I was instantly reminded of Stephen King's The Mist and I was like, "Oh snap..." I took off my glasses, and even though I was blind as a bat, I found the source of the problem. My mom had taken our rice cooker, and filled it with vinegar. The smell was engulfing the room, so I took my laptop out of the room and sat on the couch inside. This is why laptops were invented! After that, she made me inhale Vick's from a steam-thing. Vicks Inhale She told me to inhale deeply until I felt a cooling sensation in my chest. So, I was just standing there, inhaling for five-minutes trying desperately to create a cooling sensation in my chest, but I couldn't. Eventually, the Vicks started to get bitter in my mouth and I couldn't stand it anymore. I rushed downstairs to the refrigerator and grabbed some ice cream to combat the bitter taste. One of the remedies she had for my asthma was to Tan hua boil the "Tan Hua" (I'm not sure what the English word for it is) and drink the nectar that remained. I'm not sure if it worked, but it sure tasted good! It tasted like honey and its sweet aftertaste stayed in your mouth for quite a long time! So, what crazy remedies do your parents come up with?
