My adventures with a skunk

Well, skunks live almost everywhere in North America, and one just so happened to turn up in my front yard. I was walking out of the house to go to a Christmas dinner party and there he was. I thought it was a cat at first, so I made strange noises to try to make it go away; then, it turned around and looked at me. I swear it raised an eyebrow at me! Once I saw it for what it really was, my eyes opened really wide (as far as my small-ish eyes can go) and I screamed the high-pitch scream that I do. I should really send in a tape to the Guiness World Records to see if mine is a record. Probably not, but it's worth a shot  . The hairs on the skunk stood up, and it looked at me pretty menacingly. Before I could let it raise its tail (since we all know what happens...), I dashed off toward the safety of my car and locked the door. When we were backing out of our driveway, the skunk appeared again. My mom and I started screaming because my dad almost ran it over; that skunk is one lucky rodent! The tire missed the skunk by probably a centimeter, and it was unharmed! My mom thought she smelled a strange odor in my brother's car, but it didn't really smell like what one would think a skunk's spray smells like. It smelled like a mixture of coffee beans and leaves, so I guess my mom just jumped to conclusions. I should have taken a picture of it! The skunk is really a very pretty animal... Nauseating, but pretty nonetheless.
