Mother's Day in the United States is next Sunday! I'm trying to think of something special to do for my mom and I'm drawing blanks. I was originally going to plan a party for my mom and her friends that are also moms, but I would have trouble keeping it all under wraps, since I wanted it to be a surprise.
The past years, I've always given my mom a gift, like a ring or some other kind of jewelry, but I want this year to be more personal instead of just trying to buy off my mom with an expensive piece of jewelry. My mom has always told me that she prefers something more personal, as opposed to something expensive, but what would that be? I could always write her a heartfelt letter, but I wouldn't want to seem cheap. She also told me to buy her something that she could use every day to make her life easier! I was thinking of getting her a really big cooking pot, since she's always been complaining that all our pots are too small.
Though the gift part of Mother's Day hasn't been planned out yet, I plan to make my mom breakfast in bed, complete with pancakes, flowers, and orange juice. I also plan to be on my best behavior throughout the whole day and try to not show her any of my "teenage attitude" as she calls it. Also, I'm going to do all her household chores, so she can go out shopping and when she comes back, she can sit back, relax, and watch her Chinese soap operas (I don't see why my parents like Chinese soap operas so much, but eh...).
Here is my to-do list for Mother's Day:
- Buy a gift.
- Learn to make pancakes (or buy them from a store).
- Buy flowers.
- Learn to use the juice making machine (or use orange juice from carton).
- Learn to do my mom's chores... like laundry and ironing. I'm hoping that I don't burn the house down.
So, what are you doing for your mom on Mother's Day?
