Remember how I said I was going to stay vegetarian for the month of April? I'm proud to say that... I did it! I lasted a month without meat of any sort, and surprisingly enough, it wasn't that hard. I expected to be rolling on the floor, clutching my stomach and riding an ambulance to the hospital due to vitamin deficiency. However, thanks to careful planning from my doctor and myself, I am also happy to say that I haven't visited a hospital this month!
When I first started, I honestly didn't think it was going to last. I thought it was going to be another one of my half-baked ideas that never last for a significant duration of time. Most my friends thought I was going crazy and that I was going to die without meat, but they were wrong. Living without meat is surprisingly easy, due to the fact that I never really ate meat anyways.

The reception from my family? "You won't grow tall!" "You'll die!" "NO!" Well, after a while, they got used to it, and they started supporting me as well. My mom asked around her Buddhist temple to get some good vegetarian recipes and they tasted really good. Nothing like tofu and assorted sauces to fill you up. However, my mom did go a little overboard with the nutrition thing. She made ground up squash that was tasteless and she made me a whole bowl of it.
I'm planning on continuing on as a vegetarian because I like it. I feel proud that with the combination of my jogging and a new healthier diet that I'm reducing the risks of premature death and the heart disease that runs in my family. Vegetarianism is not for everyone though! Some people can convert easier than others. I would encourage you to try it for a little while, and if you like it, then continue, but if you faint or feel fatigued, please eat some meat or visit a doctor.
