Time Management

I'm not a very good time manager myself, but I thought maybe if I blogged about time managing, I would listen to my own advice. Prioritize. Do the most important assignments first and worry about the lesser assignments later. Also, do the harder assignments first because if you save them for later, you'll be too tired to do a good job on them. Also, do the assignments that are due first, first. Don't do the assignments that are due next month first, and save the assignments that are due tomorrow for later! Make an agenda. If you have loads of projects due for a class, you should make an agenda! What I'm talking about is something like this... January 5th: Have 50% of paper done January 7th: Have 25% of science project done... etc. When I make an agenda, I usually forget about it, so make sure you put it somewhere you'll pass everyday, like on your door. This way, when you walk in and out of your room, you'll see it! Also, you might want to make a schedule for the day, like this: 2:30 - Get back from school. 3:00 - Start homework 3:30 - Finish math homework 3:35 - Start science homework 4:20 - Finish science homework 4:25 to 5 - Read book for English class Don't chat with people online. Some people are able to multi-task, but I'm not one of them. When I chat with people, I find that it takes longer for me to finish my homework, and I get really distracted. So, how do you manage your time?

Boring assignments first, fun assignments last. I leave my maths assignments last because they’re fun to do. And doing maths assignments is like a “reward” I get for finishing all the boring assignments before maths. :P

I don’t Frown Seriously, senior year has been awful in terms of time management; I’ve gotten worse instead of better. I just try to avoid the comp at all costs because I know I’ll end up taking an hour off from the work. I do use my “planner” a bit more now, though. Funny thing is, our school stopped issuing agendas this year because people weren’t using them as planners (they were just being used for the hall passes and traded around and such) and now I want to actually use one. I found a mini-notebook and just write stuff down in there and date it. I use caps to show really important stuff.

I think next year in college I’ll actually use a hardcore planner with to-do lists and everything. I fear for my work ethic D:

I think Rilla is crazy. I always did math first and fast, so that I could stretch out lazily and do my English and Social Studies homework at my own pace. Because I loved it.

 You have that much homework?!!?

I spend at most an hour a day on homework, and that’s like 4 times in a month.

You’re lucky though - you get home at 2:30, whereas I get home around 4:00 because I stay after school to practice for band.

I guess a schedule might keep you in line - but I don’t like how strict they are.

I don’t manage my time! I do what I want when I feel like it and, well, do the detentions and shiz later. I’m not going to stay up late to complete some silly assignment which probably has no point to it.

However! I have my science GCSE exam next week and I’ve been attempting to cram in what I should have learnt in 12 weeks into 7 days so perhaps I should get an agenda…

I’m exactly the same as Rilla. All the fun assignments last, including Math. I try and get done all worksheets and things done at school though, because I’m too lazy to bring my too many textbooks home (and in the process saving my poor back any more torture than it handles everyday anyway). I use my agenda religiously; and I love making schedules. It’d be a waste if I couldn’t do what I’d planned so I always follow them.
