Disappointment
Well, like the title tells you, I am disappointed. I didn't make the Jazz Ensemble. When I saw the list and failed to see my name on it, it felt like the air in my lungs had been vacuumed out. My heart was in my throat, and I was trying not to look to disappointed. However, I do not regret trying out for the Jazz Ensemble. I mean, it made me practice my saxophone more, which made me better then I was before. I also learned a valuable lesson: Don't wind things up to more then they actually are. I was too excited over Jazz Ensemble and I took the consequences. Since I was so excited, I felt really depressed since I didn't get in. So, I just consider this a learning experience for me. It's nothing to cry about or mope about because I tried my best and that's all that matters to me. There's still a knot in my stomach, but it's going away... slowly. This entry was posted on September 24, 2007 at 06:58 PM and is filed under Personal,.

Aww,well, keep up the great practising, and I’m sure you’ll do better next year!
——-
I’m so sorry. Don’t feel too bad. There’s next year and not making it doesn’t mean that you don’t have any musical potential &c, you know. =D Do something fun! Treat yourself to lots of things for working really hard and for having the gusto to try out.
——-
Awwww, I’m sorry to read you didn’t make it. *hug*
I know the feeling. I tried out for Colour Guard and was pretty soaked about it up until I found out I didn’t make it. Felt like someone sucker punched me in the stomach. I got over it in about a week. Maybe next year, if you’re feeling up to it, you can try out and make it. Keep your head up! =)

It always hurts to be disappointed. I’m so sorry you didn’t make it; I know how much you wanted to! But you tried your best and at least it was a good experience in the end :)
——-
Aww… well, at least you tried! You get points for that. (I never audition for anything because I’m afraid of failing.)
Keep on truckin’ with that saxophone.. it’s an awesome instrument. ^_^ lalala…

Yeouch…
Still, you have a long way to go! This is just the beginning; maybe in a year or two you will get in (assuming this is a school thing), and then you’ll realise that maybe it was better not to get in than before you had more experience. Like you said, you’ve only been playing for one year - that makes it pretty tough!
——-
*hugs*
Now you have even more time to practice for next year, and you’ll blow them all away!
——-
Anyone would be disappointed, I’ll laugh when I’ll see you on tv playing, imagine the look on their eyes? *lol*
Good luck in the future, you definitely have some the “dreams” and if there’s “will”, there’s definitely future in it. ;)
——-
Aww… I’m a fellow bandie, so I sort of know how you feel. I play the saxophone, too. Baritone sax to be exact. :)
*proud*
No, but, still do your best and tryout next time. At my school, you can just simply join any ensemble. There aren’t any cuts probably due to the fact that our school is under 50% capacity. :/
For Intermediate Band, we actually have ~50 people, which is PHENOMENAL!
Band is so awesome. :D

I’ve learnt not to have too much hope, but I still do believe that hope is what drives motivation most of the time. I’m glad you realise you already gave your best and that’s what counts, especially since you did have less experience than the others that auditioned! Good luck for next year and hope you cheer up. :)

Hope for the best, expect for the worst. Maybe, you could try joining next year? =) *pats Alex on shoulders*

Welllll look on the bright side; at least we’ll still be reading your fantabulous blogs because you did NOT (as you stated in the previous blog) throw yourself off the cliff.
I prefer not to think about that, as the results might have been quite… disastrous.
I’d usually launch into the ‘who needs the Jazz Ensemble’ speech, but whatever. Can’t be bothered. All I can say is keep trying and rock their socks off next time :)
——-
Don’t worry Alex. You’ll get it eventually. ;D

I was in Jazz in high school. I played Bari Sax. But I ended up quiting. It was to much work for me. We had practice after school or like 3 hours and I couldn’t do it with all the homework and stuff. But hey keep practicing…. and maybe next year they’ll take you. As for your poor printer.. LoL I’ve done that too. But mine like a phychology lecture that was like 60 something pages. LoL

Well, this could very well be one of those obstacles in life that one needs to hurdle over. You may not have been able to leap the hurdle, but that doesn’t stop you the next time around? Hope for the best, and plan for the worst.
Oh boy, this entry is all to filled with maxims and adages xD

Awww too bad you didn’t make it in. Though, if you do wind yourself up and you achieve something, it makes it all the sweeter. I know it’s so cliche to say, but life’s like that =)
And it gave you motivation to practice more - that’s a good thing too! Yays. Well done for putting in the effort and trying =D
——-
Awww, I’m sorry about the jazz ensemble. We do tend to build ourselves up over something that isn’t guaranteed, huh? Hope you’re doing better now! :)
——-
I hope this is just for a blog. Because friends who make it don’t feel that sorry for the friend who thought he would make it even though they knew he wasn’t… I hope that doesn’t make you throw yourself off a cliff, but there aren’t any cliffs around here so its all good  Anyways, there is next year. And, if you practice Clarinet a lot more, you might get a better chair next semester, or if you actually practice sax over the summer more next year, you’ll make Mission Jazz. So don’t worry! Nobody else is disappointed with how well you did!
