An Earth Without Humans
The extinction of the human race is inevitable, like all the other species on our planet. Slowly, all traces of humanity will be wiped away, all the structures that we've labored over. Dust will gather over everything, and slowly, the animals will come back to our ancient cities and repopulate the areas that were once their natural habitats.
The skyscrapers of New York City will be broken, and will slowly collapse. The Statue of Liberty is missing an eye, and it's missing the iconic torch. On the West Coast of the United States, Los Angeles is in rubble as well. The famous Hollywood Signs have been reduced to just 'Ollywood' and Sunset Boulevard is covered with various animal tracks.
You look around, and there are no humans in sight! What has happened to the human race? Have they been eradicated by a nuclear war, or did they die of an epidemic that wiped a race once so boastful, off the face of the planet? Onto a more science-fiction idea -- have they moved to a different planet? Have they just abandoned the planet that once gave birth to them, and left for another, more luxurious planet with more expendable resources?
The Earth itself is in better shape. Without the human waste, the atmosphere has cleared up, and animals are thriving. The polar ice caps have melted, causing the oceans to rise at least fifteen feet. This would make New York City almost submerged with water. Would there be a new dominating species coming from the ocean? Perhaps an intelligent shark species will take the title of 'Dominant Species'. Will their be an epic battle over the dominant species? Land vs. Ocean?
The true fate of our Earth after we're long gone, is never going to be fully realized. All we can do is imagine.

“You look around, and there are no humans in sight!“ Except for the person looking around, right?
Yes, the extinction of the human race is inevitable - the question is, how long will it take? I bet all the things we have today (skyscrapers, pollution, etc) will be long gone and we might be living on Mars by the time it happens.

Oh, so, cheery today, aren’t we, Alex? :D
I hope whoever takes over next is nice about it.

How deep… I found a typo “or did they do of an epidemic”.
——-
Have you been watching I Am Legend…?
——-
Gosh, that’s creepy. I never actually thought that an earth without humans would exist, since we’re thriving right now.
I’m wondering the same thing as Holly is. Have you been watching I Am Legend?
——-
Hah…
@Holly and morgan: I watched it with him. ;)
And what do you mean our traces are being wiped away?
O_o
Go outside… Find one thing that isn’t made by human, or affected by a human… A piece of trash counts as “affected” by a human…
;)
