A letter to myself

Dear Alexander Lei Qin, How are you? If you've already forgotten, this is yourself, writing to you from the year 2007, November 11th. Do you remember what you were like ten years ago -- the outgoing, bubbly kid who was scared of spiders? Are you still the same person? Does your scream still make dogs come running after you? Is your hair still unmanageable? Do you still wear glasses and contacts, or have you gotten some futuristic laser surgery done to your eyes? Do you still run a website? Do you even still prefer to be called 'Alex'? Do you still like to make fun of people? Are you still intent on not becoming a conformist, or have you already become one? Do you follow trends and do what other people are doing just to act cool? If you do... stop. Don't make me come into the future and slap you across your face if you do. Be happy with yourself, no matter what kind of shape you're in. Look at yourself in the mirror and say exactly what you've become. Have you become an emo 23-year old? Or have you become a successful psychologist? Do you have a significant other? In which, what is their name? What do you like about them? Are you still friends with some of the kids from junior high? If you're not, I want you to go to call them and see what's going on in their life. If your life isn't in such good shape right now, then I want you to make it better. You are, me, after all. Your mistakes are my mistakes. Try and remember the mistakes you made in your child hood and remember not to make the same mistake twice. Sincerely, Alex P.S. - Have you conquered the world yet? _The idea for this blog post came from Sarah. I've printed this letter out and asked my mom to give it to me in ten years. Just in case she forgets (which she probably will), I've printed out a second copy and stuck it somewhere under the floorboards where I intend to rediscover it someday._
