I’m currently taking part in Crystal’s 28 Books in 2008 challenge!
28 Books in 2008 button

Here are some books that I’m planning to read: Schindler’s List, Frankenstein

#1 Title: Into Thin Air
Author: Jon Krakauer
Started: December 28th, 2007
Finished: January 1st, 2008
Thoughts: After finishing this book, I felt incredibly acrophobic. It’s a great book about what it was like to survive the 1996 Everest disaster and it demonstrates heroism that isn’t often seen nowadays.

#2 Title: Carrie
Author: Stephen King
Started: January 1st, 2008
Finished: January 3rd, 2008
Thoughts: After finishing this book, I felt incredibly squeamish. I felt bad about everyone I’ve teased, and I didn’t even realize how much hurt I might have been causing them. Carrie’s actions were done only because the people around her didn’t understand her; they teased her because she was different, and that’s what led her to murdering the whole town of Chamberlain.

#3 Title: PS, I Love You
Author: Cecelia Ahern
Started: January 3rd, 2008
Finished: January 4th, 2008
Thoughts: I finished this book surprisingly fast. I stayed up until 3 AM reading it, because it didn’t feel right to go to sleep without finishing the story. It’s a really heartfelt book about a grieving widow who receives letters from her dead husband to help her adjust to her new life without him.

#4 Title: The Lovely Bones
Author: Alice Sebold
Started: January 4th, 2008
Finished: January 11th, 2008
Thoughts: After finishing this book, I felt really sympathetic toward Susie. She never got the chance to live her life, because it was taken away tragically. It makes me thankful that I live in such a safe environment.

#5 Title: Until We Meet Again
Author: Michael Korenblit and Kathleen Janger
Started: January 7th, 2008
Finished: January 20th, 2008
Thoughts: The book tells the tale of Manya Nagelstajn and Meyer Korenblit who are torn apart by the Holocaust. I thought this was a beautiful book because it was a true story, and because it tells about the hardships of the Holocaust.

Read March by Geraldine Brooks. I don’t know if you’ll like it - it’s astounding, but it’s also deep, serious, historical, &c. - nonetheless, it is FABULOUS and as you read quickly and as I recommend it to everyone… I’m recommending it to you. :D

I recommend Khaled Hosseini’s The Kite Runner along with Dan Brown’s Deception Point. I like Dan Brown’s work for its interesting spin on politics and factual places/events.
